Ideal Winter Haircare Routine For All The Preggo Mums In Watford

Hello to all amazing pregnant mommas residing in Watford. Finally, the winter season is here at its best and is making hair frizzy, dry, and dull. Well, the scalp is not doing well either as winter season often makes your scalp itchy and flaky. During pregnancy, hair becomes lustrous and voluminous but what to do when you are pregnant during the cold season? Today’s blog will tell you.

Here’s a simple and ideal winter haircare guide that all pregnant mothers living in Watford (or not living in Watford) can easily follow with a bump.

Follow a nutritious diet

Your hair is what you consume daily. If you want your hair to remain lustrous and fuller then opt for a healthier diet. Eat lots of good fats, like soybeans, almonds, tofu, eggs, and seafood to have gorgeous hair during the cold season.

Go for hot oil massages

Winter season is the best time to opt for hot oil massages. Hot oils penetrate deeper into your roots and thus, you get nothing but awesome hair. Here’s how I do hot oil massage when I’m pregnant. In a bowl, I add 2-3 tsps of coconut oil, 1 tsp of castor oil, 1 tsp of almond oil, and 2 tsps of olive oil. I mix the oils well and microwave them for 10-15 seconds and apply them gently on my scalp and entire hair. I do my hot oil massage once a week before bedtime and wash my hair the next day as usual. This technique has worked for my hair and I hope it works for you too.

Deep condition once a week

During the winter season, I always ensure to deep condition my hair once a week with a thick and creamy hair mask. I go for store-bought hair masks as it is more convenient for me. I do not buy hair conditioners and apply a hair mask after shampooing instead to get the best results. For DIY lovers, here’s a DIY hair mask recipe that’s best for you during the chilly cold season. In a bowl, add 1 cup coconut milk, 2 eggs, 2 tsps of olive oil, and 2 tsps of almond oil. Whisk the mixture properly. Apply on your hair and cover with a shower cap. Keep the mask on for 30 minutes and wash it off with warm water and a mild shampoo.

Wash your hair with lukewarm water

It’s always a good idea to wash your hair with lukewarm water during the winter season. Unlike hot water, lukewarm water does not make your hair dry and frizzy. Also, do not wash your hair every day!

Use chemical-free hair products

Try to go for hair products that are organic and chemical-free as much as you can. Winter is not the right time to experiment with different chemically-laden hair products.

Untangle your hair with a wooden comb

This tip works like magic for me. I always use a wooden comb to untangle the knots in my hair. Wooden combs are great if you want your hair to be glossy, softer, and healthy. You can buy wooden comb from any online store easily.

Say no to heat styling tools

Heat styling tools have no use during the winter season because they tend to make your hair brittle and lifeless. However, you can use a hairdryer on a cold setting to dry your hair after wash.

Always cover your hair before stepping out

Winter is not kind to people living in the UK so always step out (only step out when needed) while wearing a proper woollen cap or scarf that covers your entire hair.
